Lead engineer building a new and novel precision 3D printer that uses four heads to print one product. In addition to research and design, spearheaded planning and product development. Promoted to Engineer II in October 2019.

Industrial Design Engineer  | Gantri

Interfaced with designers to ensure their lighting visions came to life and were manufacturable via 3D printing. Wrote scripts to produce the custom G-code used on all domed products. Leveraged printer capabilities to incorporate reliable and smooth torque hinges into products.

Took time to study, build product idea prototypes, and restore the suspension and brakes on a 1971 Datsun 240Z.

Mechanical Design Engineer + Product Development | WHILL

Owned design, simulation, testing and manufacturing of the 18 inch Model A mobility device. Lead the design for postural support elements and accessories on Model Ci, the newest device. Engineering project manager for U.S. spec integration into Model Ci and U.S. business to business collaborations. Conducted market research domestically and abroad to define product, platform and portfolio.

Managed distribution, repair, and warehouse operations for the company’s first FDA cleared medical device (during this period the warehouse passed an audit by the California Food and Drug Branch). Continuously improved and documented standard operating procedures in order to hire an Operations Manager and redirect my focus on engineering.

August 2015 – April 2017
Analyzed root causes for assembly and manufacturing issues, and followed up with the responsible party to find a solution. Produced technical documentation for the FDA, resellers and customers. Linked all stateside teams with engineering and manufacturing teams in Japan and Taiwan.

PROJECTS

Dancer 3D Printer: Designing a polar, FFF printer with four independent nozzles for Gantri’s factory
Spring Lock: Discovered a single component modification to add a one handed back support lock to WHILL’s Model Ci
Autonomous Wheelchair: Designed spec appropriate LIDAR and antenna mounts, and an in-car wheelchair dock receptacle
Blast Testing: Proposed a test method for Apple Store fabricator, TriPyramid, to repeatedly test structural tension systems
